How it works
Pick a size — 1200 × 630 (link previews), 1080 × 1080 (square), 1080 × 1350 (portrait 4:5), 1080 × 1920 (stories, 9:16) or 1920 × 1080 (landscape HD). Labels are generic on purpose: platforms change their recommendations often, and these dimensions are widely accepted.
Crop to fill (default) fills the frame and trims the overflow from the centre. Fit with background shows the whole image and fills the remaining space with transparent, white, black or a colour you choose. Fit, no upscaling never enlarges a small image. Stretch forces the exact size and warns that it distorts.
Worked example
A 4000 × 3000 landscape photo for a 1080 × 1350 portrait post: Crop to fill uses the centre 2400 × 3000 px of the photo; Fit with background places it at 1080 × 810 with bands above and below.
Edge cases handled
- Small images: upscaling is flagged, or avoided with “Fit, no upscaling”.
- Transparent bands need PNG or WebP; JPEG gets a colour.
- Stretch shows a distortion warning.
- EXIF-rotated photos are framed upright.
- Output names include the size, e.g. photo-1200x630.jpg.
