How it works
Drag the selection to move it and drag its handles to resize. Choose Free or a fixed ratio — 1:1, 4:3, 3:2, 16:9, 9:16 or 4:5 — and zoom in to work on detail.
Cropping never requires a mouse. Focus the selection and use the arrow keys to move it 1% at a time (hold Shift for 10%), and Alt + arrow keys to resize. Or type exact X, Y, width and height in pixels. Values always refer to the real image, not the preview.
The cropped image is exported without metadata in the format you choose.
Worked example
On a 6000 × 4000 (3:2) photo, choosing a preset first selects the largest centred area of that shape:
- 1:1 → 4000 × 4000 at (1000, 0)
- 4:5 → 3200 × 4000 at (1400, 0)
- 9:16 → 2250 × 4000 at (1875, 0)
Then drag, nudge with the arrow keys, or type exact values — the shape stays locked to the ratio you chose.
Edge cases handled
- The selection can't leave the image or shrink below 8 px.
- Ratio locks hold while resizing from any handle.
- EXIF-rotated photos are cropped as you see them (upright).
- Touch: drag works with a finger; the page doesn't scroll while you drag.
- Zoom up to 400% with scrolling to pan.
- Transparent areas stay transparent in PNG/WebP.
